Northfield Police Department
Located in Western Massachusetts and incorporated in 1723, Northfield is a rural community (pop. 3020) located in FranklinCounty, bordering the states of New Hampshire and Vermont. It is a town of farmland, forested hills, streams, wetlands and wildlife; and it is the only town in Massachusetts situated on both sides of the Connecticut River. Northfield also has a strong educational atmosphere, as it is the home of the original NorthfieldMount HermonSchool, LindenHillSchool and PioneerValleyRegionalSchool.
Our Police Department consists of three full-time police officers and eight part time reserve officers. The Massachusetts State Police out of ShelburneFalls provides us additional support as well as our surrounding local police departments. The Northfield Police Station is located within the Northfield Town Hall, yet we utilize the dispatch services the Shelburne Control Dispatch Center, also located in Shelburne Falls.
The principle mission of the Northfield Police Department is to preserve community safety, protect life and property, and reduce crime. We strive for the highest degree of fairness, professionalism and integrity.Through community partnership we promote individual responsibility and community commitment to identify, prevent and solve social problems.We recognize the fact that we cannot be successful without the continued participation of all town departments, boards, committees, schools, business owners and residents.Our mission is facilitate such participation for the purpose of keeping the Town of Northfield a safe place to live, visit or do business.
